Third Port was founded by Andrew Kalna, a former Army Engineer diver turned acquisition entrepreneur, on the premise of preserving the long-term value in Main Street and Middle Market businesses. Raised in Virginia by a military family, he studied engineering and swam competitively in college before joining the Federal Department of Transportation to complete major highway and construction projects in the Western States after graduation. Although performing public service, Andrew felt compelled to follow his family’s legacy of military service and after commissioning as an Army Officer was selected to attend Army Dive school, combining his affinity for water with his engineering skillset. He was stationed at Fort Eustis in Newport News, VA where he led engineering diving teams for 6 years.

Andrew has over 15 years of professional experience, including leadership positions in specialized Army teams, both stateside and overseas, followed by successful roles in the technology and healthcare industries. His experiences abroad and within a Fortune 200 organization reinforce the importance of preserving the value in our Main Street and Middle Market businesses.
